Benefit Changes Through Premera

The following are some benefit changes through Premera that have been implemented to help you access care during the COVID-19 crisis.

  • The new Families First Coronavirus Response Act requires CRISTA’s health plans to provide coverage for diagnostic testing, including U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved COVID-19 diagnostic testing products and items and services related to testing furnished during an office, telehealth, urgent care center or emergency room visit.
  • 98point6, a text-based telehealth option available 24/7. Members can connect with a primary care physician right from their phone when it’s most convenient to them. Learn more about 98point6.
  • Doctor on Demand, an all-in-one technology and services platform enabling next-generation care. This telehealth option connects you with medical professionals through video communications. Learn more about Doctor on Demand.
  • Premera has adjusted the “refill too soon” policy for most medications during a declared emergency at the pharmacy counter to ensure customers have needed medications on hand. Members also have access to refills by mail for a 90-day supply. Note: Some prescriptions aren’t eligible for mail order, please check with your pharmacy.

What to do if you can't work due to exposure, symptoms or positive COVID test

“I can’t work due to exposure, symptoms or positive COVID test. Now what?”

What options do I have to cover my pay if I can’t work remotely?

(This section is for Non-Healthcare Workers. If you are a Healthcare Worker, please refer to the Senior Living time off policies and procedures.)

  • You may use any grandfathered vacation or PTO you have accrued to cover the time off for quarantine.
  • If you contract COVID-19 and need to take a leave from work, please notify Nicole Custer, Benefits Administrator at ncuster@crista.net. You can apply for Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave (WPFML) through the state and/or Short Term Disability (STD) when the diagnosis requires you to be off work for more than 7 days and is designated by your healthcare provider as a serious medical condition.
  • If you are diagnosed with COVID-19 and you have grandfathered sick leave, grandfathered vacation or PTO that goes beyond the first seven days of diagnosis, you can still apply for WPFML or STD.  Your CRISTA paid leave can be used to cover any remaining amount not covered by WPFML and/or STD to make it 100 percent of your weekly salary.
  • If you do not have enough grandfathered sick leave, vacation or PTO to cover you for the first 7 days after diagnosis, you will need to request Leave Without Pay through Paycom. You need a doctor’s medical certification to apply for WPFML or short-term disability which kicks in after seven days of diagnosis.

What extra medical care support do I have available?

(This information is for all CRISTA employees. Please read the details within each section to see if these services pertain to you.)

  • COVID-19 Testing: For dates of service January 1, 2020 through October 1, 2020, Premera will waive the cost shares for employees enrolled in CRISTA’s medical plans who require FDA-approved diagnostic testing for COVID-19. During this period of time, CRISTA’s medical plans will also be waiving in-network copays and deductibles for other virus/respiratory testing tied to a COVID-19 diagnosis. This applies to testing and the related provider visit. All other treatments and services including hospitalizations will be subject to the usual benefits and cost shares. We will continue to evaluate guidance and the scope of COVID-19 and adjust as needed.
  • Telemedicine: This provides mental health care as well as professional visits and services for real-time visits between you and your doctor via online and telephonic methods. If you are on the CORE or Buy Down medical plan, there is a $20 copay per visit, then 20% coinsurance. If you are enrolled on the HDHP/HSA plan, the visit is subject to the deductible, then 20% coinsurance unless it relates to your COVID-19 testing and diagnosis.
  • Virtual Care – On Demand: Currently, most providers are unable to diagnosis or test for COVID-19 and in many cases, cannot provide a “prescription” for a COVID-19 test, however, they may be able to provide a referral to a testing site. On demand virtual care provides may be able to provide immediate access to medical care for limited low-level acute medical conditions such as strep throat by using several technology solutions. This benefit covers on-demand virtual care using secure chat, text, voice or audio messaging, and video chat. There is a $20 copay per visit, then 20% coinsurance.
